Cultural Park at the top of Bukit Ungasan, with the largest statue of Garuda Wisnu
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Bali or GWK, is the name of a famous cultural park on the hill region of southern Bali, the construction is done in stages. The part that has been completed at this time is from the top of the body of Vishnu, the head of an eagle and the hand of Vishnu.
This cultural park has become one of the favorite places in Bali for arts and cultural events, concerts, exhibitions, and conferences. GWK, with a height of 145 meters on the hill, is expected to be one of the tallest statues in the world with a magnificent panoramic view of Bali
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is located on 250 acres of land in Ungasan, Bali's south, and is dedicated to preserving the arts, cultural, culinary, and spiritual island of Bali. Garuda is a mythical bird Hinduism. Vishnu is the Preserver god in Hinduism, while Kencana means of a train. Bali future Landmark made of steel, copper, and brass, planned to be placed over 145 meters, with the position of Vishnu riding the back of an eagle (with a 64 meter long wings) overlooking the island and sea.
Nyoman Nuarta, sculptor Bali, started this project in 1997 and has immediately become one of the attractions in Bali although currently only about 25% complete with the existing upper part of the body of Vishnu, eagle head, and hands Vishnu. Finally, Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue will be seen within a radius of 20km from Kuta, Sanur and Nusa Dua.
Existing facilities at GWK Cultural Park is a restaurant, amphitheater, exhibition gallery, open stage, souvenir shops, art market, ATV rental, and other adventure.
