The Pandan War Attraction was carried out by the manners of Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan Village related to the Usaba Sambah ceremony, which culminated in Sasih Kalima (the fifth month of the Balinese calendar), and the Pandan War was held for two consecutive days. The Bali Pandanus War (which the local people call the Mekara-kare ceremony), is usually held in a ground-floor arena in front of Bale Patemu Kaja. The second day took place on the stage right in front of Bale Petemu Tengah.

Special attractions Pandan War the first day, held for 2 hours from noon at 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Participants ranged from children, adolescents, youth, adults, and parents. In fact, once, a Dutchman took part in this tradition.

 

 

Before the attraction of the Pandan War began, the preacher of the Desa Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan first held a ritual around the village, commonly called the Mailehan ceremony. The rituals around the village are coordinated directly by Bendesa Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan.

Mailehen ritual (around the village) is accompanied by keris dance attractions, appearing in the front position. The ritual around the village is carried out three times. The aim is to ask for safety and, at the same time, "matur-piuning" (noetic notification) related to the implementation of the Pandan War attraction as a series of Usaba Sambah ceremonies.

 

After the Mailehan ritual, continue with the 'Tetabuhan" ritual (balinese music), which involves pouring various types of drinks from a banana leaf bowl into the Pandan War arena. Which include: drinks with the names "Tuak and Arak" (a type of wine and alcohol). When the Tetabuhan ritual is performed, the companions of the Pandan War are all ready to start.

 

The earliest group to be able to turn around the attractions of the Bali Pandanus War was the age group of children. Followed by the attractions of the participants: teenagers, adults, and parents. They all came from three traditional banjars in the Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan Village, namely Banjar Kauh, Banjar Tengah, and Banjar Kangin.

 

Participants in the Pandan War all wore Balinese sarongs, with no clothes on top or bare chests. They also wore handkerchiefs and udeng. They each held a weapon in the form of thorny pandanus leaves, with a "tameng" (shield) in their left hand.

 

 

Residents from outside the village are allowed to join the power struggle in the attractions of the Pandanus War, as long as they wear Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan Village with the characteristics of being bare-chested and wearing only a sarong, handkerchief, and udeng. The procedure for warfare is specifically arranged by "para saya" (twin interpreters) in the middle of the arena.

 

 

After the war, participants in the Pandan War must have suffered scratches. However, they did not need to worry because the village prajuru had prepared scratch wound medicine that contained a mixture of vinegar, turmeric, and galangal. In a short time, a scratch must be totally healed.

 

This Pandan War is actually a war exercise. Because the villager of Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan adheres to the Indra sect, Indra is identical to the God of War.

 

To preserve the tradition of war training, it is packaged in the form of rituals that are synchronized with the Usaba Sambah ceremony. Usaba Sambah itself is held once a year in the Sasih Kalima (fifth month) calendar system of Desa Pakraman Tenganan Pagringsingan. So, the ritual attraction of the Pandanus War is also held once a year as a series of Usaba Sambah ceremonies in the Tenganan Village of Bali.
