The Mount Batur caldera was formed due to a terrible eruption in the prehistoric era 29,300 years ago. This volcano is classified as an active volcano, and the last eruption occurred in 2000 ago. This tragedy, by the people of Bangli, commonly called the Balinese gejor, had a devastating impact, including hoarding the village of Batur in the past. However, besides the vomit of lava which is now seen as black rock surrounding the mountain, the volcanic ash provides its own blessing in dry land into fertile land.
