If you want to travel to Singaraja from Denpasar, it would possible for you to stop at one of the attractions in the district of Mengwi, called Pura Taman Ayun. The Temple surrounded by a fish pond is located 18 km to the north side of Denpasar and 8 km to the West of Ubud. Temple which was built in 1634 by King Mengwi, has Taman Ahyun name. Ahyun word comes from Hyum meaning of a temple has built in a beautiful garden (a pool with a beautiful garden) that can fulfill the desire. Ahyun said then turned into words Ayun.
Taman Ayun is a Temple which is belong to the Kingdom of Mengwi, where in this area of the first page is called a Jaba, you will see the fountain that leads to the 9 direction of the wind. There are also meeting hall called Wantilan. Entering the next page, you will see `Aling-aling Bale Pengubengan` are decorated with reliefs depicting` Gods Nawa Sanga` (9 Gods guard direction of the wind). After that enter the area of the holiest and highest, the main temple which is only opened during the Piodalan (Religious Ceremony in Bali).
This gate will open during Ceremony in Taman Ayun Temple. Use for those who want to pray in the Mengwi Royal Temple.
Just a short walk from the Pura Taman Ayun, you also can visit the museum ogoh-ogoh (Giant Dolls). This museum houses more than 20 ogoh-ogoh derived from various regions in Badung. Ogoh-ogoh is made by Balinese people in celebrating `pengerupukan` (1 day before Nyepi Day / Silent Day, once a year). So if you pass the Pengerupukan Celebration, you can visit the museum to see the ogoh-ogoh.
