This market is known as the bird market. But not only various types of birds are sold here, you can meet various kinds of pets such as chickens, cats, rabbits, dogs, fish, iguanas, and its needs such as food, cages, and others
There are two main bird markets in Denpasar : Pasar Burung Satria (Denpasar Staria Bird Market) and Pasar Burung Sanglah. Pasar Burung Satria (near the pasar Satria traditional market) is located in the city centre, in jalan Veteran, approximately 300 meters north of the Catur Muka (four faced) statue.
It is always crowded with both domestics and foreign visitors : you can find tens of kiosks selling local as well as imported singing birds in cages. Many of the birds are domestically bred and but many others were caught in the wild. Sellers who do not have kiosks display their caged birds on sidewalks.
You can also find people selling animals such as local and imported dogs and tropical fish. In addition to selling birds, they sell a range of bird's cages, from low-priced to expensive ones. They also sell various bird foods such as worms, red-ant eggs, crickets, and special medicines. More and more Balinese people keep birds in their homes, not only because of their song and beautiful feathers, but also because of the frequent bird festivals held in Bali. There is at least one bird festival every two weeks, in which participants compete for trophies and other interesting prizes.
The western part, when you enter the main gate, stalls selling animals along the way. Up to the parking area. Here you will also encounter some stalls selling local Bali germs in the middle close to the temple. In addition there is a food and beverage vendors. And the eastern part there is a freshwater fish shops.
Satria Bird Market is open every day, from 07.00 until 18.00.
