Since 1963 in Gilimanuk had research conducted by Indonesian experts, is Prof Dr R Soejono and Prof Dr T Jacub. The results of these studies found hundreds of human skeleton that are estimated live in the late prehistoric period with the characteristic feature of Race Mongolid. Based on these results, it was held an action to rescue.
To save and to utilize the akeologi findings, Jembrana regency government built a Museum called Museum Manusia Purba `Museum of Ancient Man near Gilimanuk Port and completed construction in 1993.
In the Museum of Ancient Man Gilimanuk there are total collection of 210 pieces that include 137 pieces of invention in the form of skeletons and other collections of 73 pieces of wood and shells bracelets, beads, small pot, jars, jugs, bowls, hook, trowel and sarcophagi.
With these Museum of Ancient Man is definitely adds of tourist attraction in Bali, especially in Jembrana.
