Bunut Bolong is Bunut tree that grows where the roots are in the middle of the highway that connects the sub-district Pekutatan with Buleleng Regency Bali.
Bunut Bolong is located in a mountainous area that includes the area Manggissari village, subdistrict Pekutatan, Jembrana district.
The word `Bunut` is Balinese word for certain tree species that have characteristics similar to the banyan, and the word` Bolong` means holes, thus the word `Bunut Bolong` means Bunut tree that has a hole in it. As an important fact, this sacred tree has a large hole in the bottom, so large that it can pass through the hole diameter and can accommodate up to two cars side by side. Bunut Bolong also has strong magical aura, which is believed by all the people who live around this tree.
Regarding to the story of Bunut Bolong and the temple of Bunut Bolong called Bhujangga Sakti Temple is located southside of the tree, it is not certainly know. But according to legend there is a large stone where when Dang Hyang Sidhi Mantra did meditation in that place. Local people who see him and adore him then build a temple at the site environment. When the Manggissari village was built around 1928 occurred some strange moments. People that was originally live in the north Bunut Bolong and south graves attacked plague. Then after the pewuwus (instructions) obtained from Pura Bhujangga Sakti, so that People have to moved to the south of Bunut Bolong. After that they all saved.
As a tourist destination Bunut Bolong still very natural and beautiful. Facilities and infrastructure that support it, are still rare such as : restaurants, parking areas, toilets and others are not yet available. But the road conditions are very good because it is the way through to the Buleleng regency.
Bunut Bolong is located in 49 km to the east of the Negara City and approximately less than 86 km to the west of Denpasar.
